About the Trust

Neighbors, rebuilding the heart of the village.

The Thetford Center Community Trust is a volunteer-led nonprofit, founded in 2024 by local residents with one shared goal — bringing the Village Store back to life.

Our mission

To revive the Village Store so our neighbors in this beautiful town have a welcoming space to gather.

How the Trust works

A nonprofit model.

The Trust is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Our model is simple, and it is proven: the nonprofit owns the building and is responsible for its upkeep, raising the funds to rebuild it through donations and grants.

Once it is restored, the Village Store & Café will be leased to a for-profit local operator who runs it day to day.

It is an approach that has brought back village stores in towns across Vermont, and it is how Thetford Center will get its store back.
